AI Usage
Last updated: [Month Day, Year]
We'd rather tell you exactly where AI touches your data than let you wonder. This page covers every place it's used in GymOS today, what it never does, and what changes if you connect your own AI tools through our API.
Where we use AI
Today, AI is used in exactly one place: generating a first draft of a social media caption, when a gym admin opts into that feature from the "Compose" screen. An admin provides a topic, picks a platform (Instagram/Facebook) and a tone, and our AI provider drafts a caption. Nothing is ever published automatically; an admin always reviews and can edit the draft before it goes anywhere.
What data that involves
Generating a caption sends only the topic text, the target platform, and the chosen tone to our AI provider (Anthropic). It never includes member names, contact information, attendance or billing records, or anything else about your gym's operations, because the feature simply has no reason to need any of that.
What we don't use AI for
- No AI-driven decisions about any member: no scoring, ranking, or automated flagging
- No AI involvement in billing, collections, or account suspension decisions
- No AI analysis of attendance, evaluations, or other member records
- We do not use your data to train AI models, ours or anyone else's
Features like at-risk member flagging and analytics elsewhere in GymOS run on plain, transparent business rules (things like "no visit in 14 days" or "a due is overdue"), not machine learning, and not AI.
A human is always in the loop
Every AI-generated caption is a draft, not a publish. The admin who requested it reviews, edits, or discards it before anything reaches Instagram or Facebook, the same as if a person on their team had written a first draft for them to check.
If no AI provider is configured
If an AI provider isn't configured for a given environment, caption generation falls back to a simple, non-AI placeholder draft rather than failing outright; either way, nothing publishes without a human reviewing it first.
Bringing your own AI agent
GymOS offers a REST API and an MCP server (see our Premium plan) so a gym can connect its own tools, including its own AI agent, directly to its data. If you choose to do that, the AI agent you connect is yours: it acts using an API key scoped to whatever permissions you grant it, and how it behaves is between you and whichever AI provider you've chosen. That's a distinct thing from the one built-in AI feature described above, which we operate ourselves.
